John Harper

Jumping Inside

i’m only as old as my new story,
and it’s just beginning—
i’m having the time of my life;
manifest destiny is kicking out of me;
harm is unmangling itself;
there’s one way to be, and it’s always been anyway;
now i see its patient truth;
my next million years
are to be glowing to the core;

even the tiniest inkling contains
a universe of potential understanding;
even the most painful darkness is an expanse
wherein kindness and compassion
can’t wait to explore—so come on in;
i’m clearing my schedule
for the rest of this lifetime—
